PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Manuscripts should be submitted through the online submission platform. For guidance on preparing your manuscript, refer to the Author Guidelines. Adhering to these guidelines is crucial for a smooth and successful submission process.

A Cover Letter, signed by the corresponding author, must accompany the manuscript. The Cover Letter, signed in blue ink and dated, should be submitted as a separate file in pdf format during the manuscript submission process. Authors who do not include a Cover Letter during submission will be requested to upload one before any further consideration in the review process.

Each submitted paper will be primary tested for plagiarism using iThenticate  plagiarism checker. If the paper is suspected of plagiarism, it will be automatically rejected.

The Editor-in-Chief conducts the initial assessment of each manuscript. If the topic and treatment align with the journal's scope, the manuscript is then assigned to a section editor who manages the review process. After the review is concluded, the section editor provides a recommendation for acceptance, revision, or rejection of the manuscript. The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

The Journal of the Chemical Society uses a "double-blind" review process, ensuring anonymity for both authors and reviewers. Authors are unaware of the identities of their reviewers, and conversely, reviewers do not have information about the authors. The identities of authors are disclosed to the peer reviewers only after the manuscript has been either accepted or rejected.

Reviewers provide their recommendations on the publication viability of the manuscript, along with their observations, to the section editor. In cases where reviewers hold conflicting opinions, the section editor may seek the perspective of a third reviewer to aid in the decision-making process. This rigorous and impartial review system aims to maintain the integrity and fairness of the evaluation process.

A decision on the manuscript generally may be expected within 2 to 3 months from the date of submission. However, it's important to note that potential delays may occur if there are delays in obtaining reviews. The review process is conducted electronically, with manuscripts sent out for review through online platforms. All communication, including correspondence with authors, is also carried also out via online platform. This streamlined electronic communication facilitates a more efficient and timely exchange of feedback and decisions throughout the editorial review process.

Upon receiving the acceptance notification, the corresponding author is expected to submit the final formatted version of the accepted manuscript within three working days. This prompt submission is crucial for the timely processing and publication of the accepted work. Authors are encouraged to adhere to this timeline to facilitate efficient production processes and ensure the timely release of their work in the journal.
